Making of “Light In Dark Places”

Creating this piece took some quality time and effort for the best imagery possible. Making my show at the University of West Georgia last year, I chose to show my passion for art and writing together, so I created twenty images representing my fictional writing, and “Light In Dark Places” is one of the best I’ve ever done, especially in acrylic paint.

Acrylic paint went well for how the perspective of the image turned out. The lighting and mood the characters were in had to be just right, along with the color pallet I laid out to help me through this process. About four hours of work had finished this, with nearly forty-five minutes for sketching it out on the canvas and the rest of the time laying out colors. After doing this, I had many great reviews based on the emotional reaction it gave viewers, making this one of the finest pieces in my painting collection.
